Our Vehicle Serial Interface/Vehicle Link Tester-Class 2 (VSI/VLT-C2) is a hardware and software package that supports the following protocols.

Supported Protocols: GMUART, J1850 GM (Class 2) and J1850 DCX.

The Vehicle Serial Interface - Class 2 (VSI-C2) is an instrument that enables communications with the General Motors implementation of the SAE J1850 (Class 2) serial data bus and UART bus using a personal computer.

The VSI-C2 is compatible with any personal computer with a standard RS-232 serial communications port. The serial data buses are accessed via the Assembly Line Diagnostic Link (ALDL) connector on the vehicle. The VSI-C2 communicates to the host computer via an RS-232 serial port. Commands from the host include initialization, transmission of Class 2 messages, and grounding of diagnostic lines. When the VSI-C2 is configured, it can transmit and receive messages on the Class 2 bus. Power is supplied to the VSI-C2 from the SAE J1962 ALDL connector or from a power adapter.

It is designed to be used on all General Motors vehicles equipped with General Motors implementation of the SAE J1850 (Class 2) bus. Typical applications are vehicle powertrain development, design validation, reliability testing, message format integrity, bus utilization and ALDL data acquisition.
Vehicle Serial Interface	The Vehicle Serial Interface (VSI) is a hardware instrument that enables communication with the General Motors implementation of the SAE J1850 (Class 2) serial data bus and UART bus using a personal computer. It was designed to allow development of Class 2 diagnostic and data acquisition instruments on commercially available personal computers.
Scanner Editor	The Scanner Editor is a menu-driven software program designed to create and edit Vehicle Link Tester (VLT) Class 2 scanner files. It collects data from the Class 2 bus, scales it and displays it to you in engineering units.
