DG Technologies to Showcase Clean Truck Check Tools at TMC in Nashville

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DG Technologies to Showcase Clean Truck Check Tools at TMC in Nashville

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Jan. 27, 2025 – Secure vehicle diagnostics leader DG Technologies is gearing up to spotlight its expanded Truck-Connect series of fleet analysis tools at TMC’s 2025 Annual Meeting this March in Nashville, Tenn.

This year, as an exhibitor at booth #1735, the Detroit-area company will feature its new DPA Inspect (www.dpainspect.truck-connect.com), an application certified last fall by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for use in the state’s Clean Truck Check program.

DG Technologies, which specializes in vehicle network engineering, fleet cybersecurity and diagnostics and reprogramming tools, is a longtime participant in the American Trucking Associations’ (ATA) Technology and Maintenance Council’s (TMC) annual event, which will take place this year from March 10 to 13 at Nashville’s Music City Center.

DPA Inspect software works with DG Technologies’ long-trusted DPA XL and DPA 5 PRO diagnostic and reprogramming devices to extract and encrypt on-board diagnostic (OBD) data from trucks and send the information directly to CARB for a pass/fail determination.

Compliance testing for CARB’s Clean Truck Check started last fall and will involve regular testing of most non-gasoline heavy-duty vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) over 14,000 pounds that operate on public roads and highways in California.

DG’s approved DPA Inspect software and DPA devices went through extensive testing to be certified and are permitted for use as part of Clean Truck Check only by technicians who are credentialed through CARB’s no-cost tester training course and have received a Tester ID.

Truck-Connect is a web portal that houses a customer dashboard and all of DG Technologies’ and partner Synercon Technologies’ cloud-based applications and products, including DPA Inspect, DPA Health, DPA Mobile and DPA Diagnostics, that work with DG’s DPA devices to provide predictive fleet analytics, mobile diagnostics, crash investigation data and utilization optimization.

DG’s Mark Pope Awards SAE Collegiate Cup to SVSU

FRANKENMUTH, Mich. April 5, 2024 DG Technologies product specialist and education coordinator Mark Pope was in Frankenmuth in February and awarded the winning mid-Michigan school with the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Collegiate Cup.

The cup is presented each year at the SAE Mid-Michigan’s National Engineers Week Annual Banquet and Meeting to the team that places highest in the SAE Collegiate Chapter Project Presentation Competition at the annual meeting. The event’s competition is judged based on the quality of the oral presentation of the teams’ “Design Series” projects, with top honors this year going to Saginaw Valley State University.

Attendees and judges saw presentations by Central Michigan and Kettering universities’ teams for their BAJA SAE Series, in which each team designed and built a prototype of an all-weather, rugged, single-seat, off road recreational vehicle for competition this fall. Students from Central Michigan, Kettering and Saginaw Valley State universities gave presentations on their work in the Formula SAE Series, for which they conceived, designed, fabricated and developed small formula-style vehicles for competition this May. And students from Kettering presented on their participation, in partnership with General Motors, for the AutoDrive Challenge, in which they developed a full autonomous driving passenger vehicle to navigate an urban driving course this summer.

“They actually use what they learn in the classroom to build these vehicles,” Pope said of the student competitors. Pope, one of many at DG Technologies who volunteers time and expertise with SAE, organized and presided over the banquet meeting this year.

Pope noted that companies hire students from these competitions because they know the students already have training and experience. “They know they can hit the ground running,” he said.

DG Technologies works in association with many domestic and foreign original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and tier 1 and 2 suppliers to the automotive, heavy-duty, agriculture, off-road, cybersecurity, military and recreational vehicle transportation markets and has a long affiliation with SAE International, the American Trucking Association’s Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) and tier 1 and 2 supplier organizations. The company is a leading provider of secure aftermarket diagnostic products, engineering development tools and heavy-duty vehicle digital forensics. In 2019, DG Technologies’ parent company, the Dearborn Group Inc., acquired Synercon Technologies, which specializes in vehicle crash data extraction. Zachos runs both companies from his offices in Farmington Hills, Mich.

Mark Zachos at ETI Winter Tech Week

ETI Winter Tech Week

With DG Technologies’ trusted line of secure diagnostic and engineering tools, like VSI NxGen for cars and Beacon for Developers, company president Mark Zachos made it a priority to be at ETI’s annual Winter Tech Week.

Zachos was in Torrance, Calif., last week for the event, organized by the Equipment and Tool Institute (ETI) and the Japanese Automobile Manufacturers Association to communicate new information, technologies and tool requirements for servicing current models and future vehicles.

He said being at Winter Tech Week is beneficial to “stay current with vehicle maintenance technology including potential regulations both in the U.S. and abroad.”

The event each year gives attendees an opportunity to meet and collaborate with OEMs, engineers, service tool providers, regulators and designers.

The main focus for us at DG Technologies is to actively participate to ensure that our tools, equipment and information are available to repair shops by the time the new models hit the streets. Through OEM presentations, panel discussions and hands-on demonstrations, industry professionals discuss the upcoming service needs of new makes and models, and the changes necessary in the tool and equipment industry to meet those needs.

Current DG Technologies customers that participate include AVL, Burke Porter, Continental, Denso, Hino, Honda, Isuzu, Matco, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Mitsubishi Fuso, Nissan, Subaru (Fuji Heavy Industries), Suzuki Toyota and Kia.

DG Technologies supplies products to both vehicle manufacturers and aftermarket companies and the event is a great way to confirm that our products are out in front of any changes coming and to help confirm they work with all vehicles.

While he was in town for the event, Zachos was able to visit the American Honda Collection Hall at Honda’s U.S. headquarters in Torrance. “The new Honda Museum was outstanding,” Zachos said.

According to Motor Trend Magazine, the collection, which opened this fall after being stored for the last 20 years in an undisclosed warehouse and continually added to by American Honda staffers, “might be the best-worst kept secret in the California car scene.”
